John serves with Soul Shepherding as a Spiritual Director providing soul care and coaching, especially for pastors. He is a Senior Pastor with nearly 30 years of experience in historic and intergenerational churches.

He has an M.Div. degree from Howard University and a D.Min degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, with an emphasis in Leadership and Preaching. He was certified as a Spiritual Director through the Soul Shepherding Institute’s program in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care.

Pastor Walton has been an active participant in every community where God has planted him in nearly three decades of professional ministry. He’s pastored in the historic churches of Israel Baptist Church in Washington DC, St. Mark Congregational church in Boston, and Calvary Baptist Church in Milwaukee, where he currently serves. Also he’s served on boards and in leadership roles for a variety of denominational, civic, and nonprofit organizations.

John has been happily married to Lorrie for over 24 years. They live in Milwaukee, WI and are the proud parents of four children.
